a number of的含義為“一些”、“許多的”，相當于 many，修飾可數名詞復數，后面的謂語動詞用復數；the number of的含義為“……數目”，表示“……的數量”，作主語時，謂語動詞用單數。

區別一：含義不同

1、a number of表示大量的，許多的，充足的的意思。

區別二：謂語不同
